I remember people chattering loudly, a dog barking, wind turbines screeching. And then the darkness rolled over the valley like a time-lapse film. A flock of birds bolted from a tree in panic. An ashen sky. And a golden crown of light on it. Everything around me vanished. Dead silence.

The silence, real or only in my head, was totality.

Electric energy spread through my body like lightning dissolving in my veins. It was me that was gone. Who released the shutter of my camera, I don’t know.

The alignment, the beauty – is this real or is this magic?

This was more a spiritual experience than a photography road trip.

Sometimes the light is obscured by perspective – maybe awareness is just what’s left when all the noise is gone.
